“Any prize worth having usually requires risk.” ~Kurama, from Yu Yu Hakusho

This quote is an acknowledgement of the fact that we often face a lot of uncertainty when trying to reach our goals, and that we may not succeed. The point here is simply the importance of realizing that reality and taking it into account in our thoughts and actions. In light of this, forethought—thinking about the future—is important. Planning ahead is important. Planning for as many different possibilities and potentialities as we can gives us an advantage because we’re less likely to be caught completely unprepared if something we hadn’t anticipated comes along. Forethought can help us be more adaptive in our thinking about and response to unexpected events.
